King of the Cage will return to Minnesota on Saturday for "Underground 59" at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Matchmaker Gavin Rydell has put together five professional fights and six amateur fights for an 11-fight card.

Fighting in the main event Saturday night will be former four-time All-American wrestler Josh Janousek. He will look to improve upon his 4-1 record against veteran Travis McCullough in a 205-pound showdown.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Janousek as he's originally from northern Minnesota; he wrestled in high school for Badger/Greenbush-Middle River.

McCullough has been around the fight game for a long time and has been in the cage with some of the Midwest's best. However, he's on a five-fight losing streak.

Janousek's only career loss came against Derek Smith. But the wrestling stud has won two straight, including a victory over Justin Grizzard at KOTC's Underground 55.

"It's a fight that Josh is definitely favored in, but Travis has very sharp elbows," Rydell said. "He's won a lot of fights by cutting people with his elbows. He's got dangerous knees, too. If he could catch Josh with an elbow, I'd say that's Travis' best shot."

In a 185-pound matchup, Tyler Klejeski (3-0) will take on veteran Miguel Cooley.

Rydell said this showdown could be the fight of the night. Klejeski already holds wins over Derek Smith and Bryan Barberena. And Cooley has been around the block and fought several of the best the Midwest has to offer.

"Miguel is a boxer, a good boxer," Rydell said. "I know Tyler has been working very, very hard, especially on his muay thai. I'm hoping they both decide to stand up and give the crowd a show. Obviously, Miguel has the experience, but Tyler's with a good camp in Revolution. It's a very interesting matchup."

In a matchup of opposites, Alexandria's Dean Lamb, who has ties to the White Earth Reservation, will take on Fargo's Bruce Nelson at 205 pounds. Lamb is a striker with a 1-1 record, while Nelson is a veteran who is a strong ground fighter.

"Dean's going to want to keep it standing and look for the knockout, and Bruce is going to want the fight to go to the ground," Rydell

said. "I think either can win. If Dean can avoid the ground, he can knock out Bruce. If Bruce can get it to the ground, he can win."

At 155 pounds, jiu-jitsu wiz Fernando Violante will make his professional debut against Team Crazy veteran Bruce Johnson.

"This is kind of like Lamb vs. Nelson; Fernando is just awesome on the ground, and I've seen Bruce hit some people really hard when he can keep it standing," Rydell said. "Fernando doesn't have great wrestling, so it might be tough for him to get it to the ground. It's a good matchup though."

In the final pro fight, WEC veteran Kyle Jensen returns to action at 170 pounds. He will take on Chris Dierdal.

"It's really a tuneup fight for Kyle; he's trying to get back into the swing of things," Rydell said.

Highlighting the amateur portion of the card will be the debut of UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock's son, Shawn Shamrock. Originally, Ken Shamrock's other son, Ryan, was scheduled to fight. But Rydell said Ryan is out and Shawn is in.

It will be Shawn's first career fight. With the late change, Rydell was able to secure Lucus Goulet to step up and face Shamrock. Ken Shamrock is scheduled to be in attendance, cornering his son.

"It will be interesting to see; I don't know anything about Shawn, other than this is supposed to be his first fight," Rydell said. "Obviously, he's Ken's son, so we'll see what happens."

The remainder of the amateur matchups include many fighters from northern Minnesota.

"It will kind of be a hometown thing for a lot of the new guys," Rydell said. "It's been a tough card to put together, but hopefully we can give the people a show. You never know with the amateurs, but we seem to have some guys who are ready to fight."

Tickets for Underground 59 are available at this link. Fights are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.
