North Dakota-based M.A.X Fights made a successful Minnesota debut Saturday night at the East Grand Forks Civic Center.

M.A.X Fights promoter Randy Thorsvig said his first experience with the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission was a good one, and that his organization would love to come back to Minnesota.

Thorsvig said a good crowd was on hand at the East Grand Forks Civic Center, and UFC veteran Brock Larson made an appearance. The Brainerd Brawler jumped in the cage and spoke about his upcoming fight next weekend at Seven Clans Casino in Red Lake.

Thorsvig and Damian Holznagel put together a 10-fight card using mostly local talent.

Trainer and fighter Dylan Spicer made a successful return to the cage. And he didn't spend much time in action ... Spicer made quick work of Josh Smidt, locking in a rear-naked choke early in the first round.

Lucas St. Claire wasn't as successful in his return to the M.A.X. Fights cage. St. Claire suffered a loss to Anthony Smith when he submitted due to an armbar in the first round.

Veteran Bruce Nelson and Ben Wicks had an exciting first round, but Nelson finished the fight in the second when Wicks submitted due to strikes.

Other winners included Billy Ray Christianson, B.J. Johnson, Allan Kirkeby, Dave Helmbrecht, Justin O'Neill, Adam  Borgen and Jeremy Stetz.
