It wasn't the most exciting fight. But a win is a win.

Minnesota Martial Arts Academy's Nik Lentz remained unbeaten in the UFC with his unanimous-decision victory over Andre Winner on Saturday night at UFC 118 in Boston.

Lentz's 155-pound fight was shown on the live Spike TV broadcast.

Lentz entered the fight with an 18-3-2 overall record, and he improved to 3-0-1 in the UFC.

Most of the fight was spent on the mat or in the clinch, and the lack of striking drew boos from the Boston crowd.

But Lentz was relentless with his takedown attempts, and Winner didn't have an answer.

Winner struggled to defend the takedowns and Lentz put the TUF 9 finalist on his back in all three rounds.

Winner never was able to show off the fantastic striking which he displayed on TUF. He never was able to create enough distance to truly let his hands go.

Lentz mixed in enough strikes to say busy, and Winner's best strikes came in the clinch, including a big knee he landed to Lentz's chin.

But Lentz recovered well, and it led to yet another takedown. On the ground, Lentz had a decent amount of submission attempts.

When the fight ended, Winner was clearly frustrated and looked to exchange words with Lentz.

The fight, which kicked off the night's "UFC Prelims" broadcast, was spent almost entirely in the clinch or on the

When the judges' scores were announced, it was no surprise that Lentz had his hand raised. The three judges scored it 30-27, 29-28, 30-27.

"I felt good about my performance," Lentz said after the fight. "I got the win, but I felt like I could've done a lot of things better. But when you're in there with a person of his caliber, it's tough to get the finish. He's definitely the toughest guy I've ever fought."

Lentz is now 9-0-2 in his past 11 fights. Winner dropped to 11-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the UFC. It snapped a three-fight winning streak for Winner.
