S.T.O.M.P. MMA's Joe Jasicki was looking for tough opponents to step up and take on the fighters from his Wadena gym.
Well, he's received his wish.
Saturday night during CFX 45 at the Wadena Armory, two amateur titles are on the line, and Jasicki has set up a total of 10 fights.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday, with fights scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $30.
The night's main event features a couple of 145-pound standouts, squaring off for the 145-pound strap.
Standout amateur Jesse Wannemacher always has been considered a dangerous striker, but now he'll get a chance to test his wrestling and his ground game against Robert Tahtinen.
Wannemacher comes in with a 5-1 amateur record. His lone loss came in his first fight, against 10K MMA standout Codie Kahler.
Tahtinen holds an impressive 7-0 amateur record. All but one of his previous fights were with Fearless Fighting Championships. Tahtinen is the FFC title holder. He's won his last two fights by split decision.
"Jesse is known for his boxing, but his last three wins have come by submission," Jasicki said. "This will be his second title now. We wanted to find someone with a tough record to fight him. We found Tahtinen up in Superior. I had never seen Robert fight, but I've seen a highlight video and he looks like a tough kid. I asked Jesse if he wanted to fight a 7-0 guy, and he immediately said yes. Jesse plans on making a statement, and Robert is trying to make a name for himself, too. I think this could be a crazy standup fight."
Another amateur strap will be on the line when Fikret Saric squares off against Zac Paletta.
Saric has been training with Jasicki for more than a year and a half. He calls Saric an unpredictable and exciting fighter.
Though Saric is just 6-5, he's taken on some tough amateurs. His last loss came against Randy Lene. Jasicki
