This seems like the right time to make my rather unanticipated return to blogging. If I made New Year's resolutions, I might have made one to be slightly dedicated to blogging. What have I done with my time off? Depressingly little when it comes to fighting. But don't feel too sorry for me. I've managed to do some teaching, including assisting a third-grade arm wrestling tournament, and I got plenty of produce out of my garden before the snow arrived. I kind of left my few readers hanging with my last blog. Sorry if any of you thought I died in the woods while on my post-fight vacation. It almost happened, but my spirit bear protected me and kept me from sinking my kayak. The last two months of summer didn't go quite as planned since I wound up suspended for 60 days following my last bout, which put a bit of a damper on my plan to fight as often as possible. My fights scheduled for July and August had to be canceled. A bout scheduled for September fell through, and signed contracts for bouts in October and November both resulted in nothing. Then a December event got rescheduled for February, and a January event got rescheduled for February, which brought it into conflict with a previously scheduled bout. I managed to stay injured in one way or six others for most of that time as well. All of that inactivity left me quite antsy and without a bout for eight months.
While winter is a generally desolate time, things are looking up in my world. I've got a bout scheduled against Bruno Carvalho for the CFFC in Atlantic City on Feb. 5, and it looks like I will be able to make a return to the local fight scene with a bout in Rochester on March 26. You haven't read any of this on here before because I am a brick wall of conversation, and I take a small amount of pleasure in scooping the boss man. Carvalho is on a seven-fight win streak with six finishes and five of those stoppages came in the first round, so he is definitely a tough, dangerous opponent. He has been fighting overseas, and I don't know too much about the level of his competition, but he looks good on video and certainly has meaner tattoos than me. If you look at his record, you will probably be most impressed with the number of vowels in his opponents' names. I don't have an opponent to announce for the March show yet, but I can tell you that I'm always happy to be fighting in Rochester and that we will have the Graham Arena filled up with wild fans. Not my fans, of course, they are far too classy for all that, but I'm sure the wild people will be there. There have also been changes with my gym and training schedule as well, but I will wait until my next post to give those details. I have to leave you anticipating something and leave something for me to write about. - Logan Clark |
