FRIDAY, MARCH 26

Logan's seventh blog entry —

As a fight approaches, it would seem like life should be getting more stressful, but for me the week of a fight is the easy life. I just have to monitor my weight and try not to work too hard. I sometimes have a difficult time reminding myself to take it easy. I want to be in doing all of the rounds at the gym, but I know that it is better for me to rest my body and be ready for the fight.

This week, since we have had such a warm March, I have been out working in my garden. I sometimes even work too hard at that. I have to remind myself not to work too hard while hauling mulch or shoveling various things. I even forced myself to take a break and cook a nice, little, time-consuming lunch over a campfire. I guess this is what happens when a kid who could never settle down grows up.

Gardening is my primary hobby. Next week, win or lose, I will be in my garden planting potatoes, peas, beets, radishes and assorted greens. You would be impressed by the flavor of my produce. It may seem like a bit of a swing to go from fighting to gardening, but they both require patience, hard work and dedication to detail, so, despite the surface differences, the activities require some of the same character traits that have made me good at fighting.

I'm expecting that I will need to use my all of my skills to get through Saturday night with a win. Shane is tough guy who knows how to fight and especially how to throw on quick submissions, so I will have to be careful to stay patient and not force any position or action. If the opportunity is there to make the right move, I will take it, but I can't force the opportunity to be there.

This will be an exciting fight, and I know that a lot of fans across Minnesota are excited to see it happen. Shane and I will still be friends after the fight, but we will have to settle for being friends with bruises.
