WEDNESDAY, MAY 26 Logan's 11th blog entry — The daily grind of training and my other activities hasn't left me with much to write about on here, but today, well, today is a good day because I have some exclusive news. I can now announce my next matchup. The event is coming up soon, so I have been training hard, but I am always welcome to good game plans for my fights. Feel free to look up my opponent and let me know (here or on facebook) what you think I should do to his face. On June 19th, I will return to the scene of my last crime in submission creation, the Hyatt Ballroom in downtown Minneapolis, for a bout with Anthony Smith from team Disorderly Conduct out of Omaha, Neb. They sound like a group of upstanding citizens, so I expect a good, clean, orderly bout. Who am I kidding? He is a striker and likes to throw down, so violence is coming my way, and I have to admit that I am pretty excited about it. I have only managed to find one of his fight videos. It is of the last fight he lost before going on a three-fight win streak, so I would especially appreciate any help in finding his more recent fights. His record stands at 7-4 or 8-5 or something like that. This is the Midwest, so I can pretty confidently assume that this will be one of those bouts where the opponent gets announced with a much more impressive record than I had previously heard about. This phenomenon was spotted in Heath Rud's most recent bout when his opponent turned out to a have a 12-4 record, which is about three times as many fights as we had been told about. That sort of thing still happens far too often. Smith is a lanky dude and will probably be the first person to attempt to use range on me in a while. He seems to have a pretty straightforward approach to striking, and his fighting off the back looks oddly similar to my own. He strikes effectively in grounded positions, which is a character I admire. I will look to stay inside of his strikes and punish him anytime he comes within my range. This will be my first fight at middleweight since September of 2008. I have been down to 195 once, but a full return to 185 will be an unpleasant experience for me. I've dropped from 217 down to 205ish now. I will make the weight. I always do. I just don't think you will want to be around me for the last day. While I will be returning to middleweight, I intend to return to light heavyweight in the near future, so I'll try to get these guys to rank me at two weight classes. It is time for me to make a proper push on my career. I've spent a few years spreading myself too thin with various responsibilities, so I am now in the midst of a three-fight plan that will hopefully get me a bigger contract again. The only thing I don't want to have in the future is any questions about whether or not I gave my best. We'll just have to see if my body holds up. I'll give you the details for my next bout one more time: Date: June 19. Promoter: Seconds Out. Event: Havoc at the Hyatt 2. Location: Minneapolis. Opponent: Anthony Smith. Time: 8 p.m. Tickets: $30 general admission, $75 VIP table seats. There is a special ticket price for children as well. I'll try to get the details. Contact me for tickets and thanks for all of your support. — Logan Clark
